This is a blog for furniture advice and insights from someone who has been in the biz for over 40 years. He has everything from management experience to down home mindfulness of customer service. He is the “Mayor of Furniture”!
Furniture is something he has always put his blood, sweat, heart, and soul into. This is the man that had a heart attack while working, blacked out, got back up, and kept on working, because his service and customers mean everything to him. It was a scary few weeks after, but 18+ years later, and he is still able to give everything to his customers and greet them with a smile.
He is now battling Parkinson’s Disease, but even with the aches and pains, he carries on with the rhythms in his steps. Behind the scenes of business can be stressful, but no matter how much rain tries to pour, he knows how to appreciate the sunshine.
I have witnessed and been a part of my mother (Laugh with Carol) and father (Ken) breaking their backs to stay up all hours of the night to get things done, deliver furniture to someone in need, do the work to help make the community a better place, shuffling items to re-purpose from bag to bag, car to car, room to room, and everything that goes along with being caretakers for work, loved ones, and the Earth as a whole. Work/Life balance is not really how it flows in our household, but we know how to have fun while working and we do our best to make the best of things no matter how little resources or time we have!!! Every moment and everything is the potential to be something great!
At the end of the day, you can often find him watching the sun go down or sitting by candlelight under the tree in our front yard; rooting the moments of peace before another day begins.
