Wild Rooted Style | Crunchi Edition

This old glass bottle can probably tell a story or two from my grandaddy’s old dump truck. I found it recently when my son wanted to see the “old dump truck”, “that would be pretty cool” (in his words)!

Hi there,

If you have been reading my content, you probably have a good idea of how important clean, sustainable living is for me. Most importantly, I hope you have an idea of how much I understand the process of creating such a living is a journey. Quite frankly, we have been currently living in some humbling conditions after having to uproot a lot of pieces of our life, rebuild, and replant while still juggling many things of bridging the worlds together. I started dedicating myself to cleaning out my life while in the thick of a medical journey in 2010. I was already fully committed to wellness, as it was my field, but I was young, struggling with my health, and still had many pieces I needed to discover and develop. Many of the features in Rootin’ for your Life are the resources and things I wish I would have had to help me along the way, but I am grateful for being able to experience it all in the raw, chaotic ways I did. Those experiences added to the Seeds in my Soul calling to me to pursue these pathways of learning more about the art of living and what I like to call; “creative healing”. You can learn more about my journey in Seeds of my Soul! The purpose of this post is to introduce a main feature I have decided to dedicate the energy I can to and weave it into the Rootin’ for your Life content.

I became plant-based focused in 2012 for medical and ethical reasons. I was more mindful of what I was consuming; not just digesting, but the products on my skin, in my home, and the energy I was exposing myself to. Of course, in the environments around us there are some things we have limited control over. To say this uprooted my life is an understatement. It did so in the best, but most challenging ways. At that time, plant-based living was not as accessible nor promoted. Looking back, my husband and I realized this is when many things connected to our social dynamics changed. We were once the extroverted social bees; always hosting, cooking, delivering food, and keeping an open door for friends and family. When we were dealing with a lot of critical medical issues and quite frankly, burnout from being so social, work pressures, and family matters, we knew it was time to tap back into our intuitive, introverted nature; listening to the needs of our mind, body, spirit, and inner flow of ourselves and our relationship. Even though people know how warm we are; we voice our thoughts and boundaries, but we also do not believe in shaming people. We are mediums and it is our purpose in life to bridge all the things that are divided and in need of healing. As highly sensitive introverts, we do so through mindful practices (even though these skills have required time, practice, and experiences to learn). We observe before we speak. We do our best to live by example and offer insight if we know others are open to it or actively seeking it from us. When we feel comfortable, this is when we become more vocal and allow our rhythms to flow. Otherwise, we take our time in establishing the connections and are careful of how much energy we put out to scenarios we know it will not go over well and unfortunately, sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it still does not go over well. All of this to say, by changing what we ate / used for products and how we did so, made it harder to connect to people at times. New people would assume, “Oh, so you are like super particular and picky. You are one of those people”! Often, even after describing my rhythm and philosophy with it, it still left big gaps in being able to socially connect. Even though those that understood my flow with it and even inspired by it, still often felt uncomfortable and I had to learn it was often because of how it made them question their own flows of life. In time, some relationships became enriched by it while some found a way to co-exist with it and some will just never understand nor support it and we did the work we could to be okay with that. It was at a time, where being plant-based was not the mainstream nor cool. Basically, it made a lot of people feel like they had to be on egg shells around you, assume things and go on the full attack, or just completely cut ties or repeatedly, “jokingly” bully you. This is not play my violin, because it also opened a lot of new, sustainable, and exciting doors. There were also many within our social circles that were supportive and inspired. I feel sharing these pieces of the journey are vital for understanding, how far things have come in 10-12 years and a reminder of how life is always changing. Change is incredibly hard, but when done so in the ways from the heart and soul, it is worth it!

It takes time for things to take root! Change is happening as we speak; we are Life in Motion, but we do not always see, feel, nor understand those ripples of it all until the currents become a stronger flow.
— Rootin for your life

With Plant-based, Toxin-Free Living becoming more mainstream, I am so excited to be able to adventure into the opportunities of artisans, educators, families, makers, and businesses creating pathways and spaces to be able to participate and celebrate in the journey of creating a more sustainable living. Keep in mind, the quote above. It is not my goal to push these ideals nor products on you. When newer pathways are becoming the new norms of mainstream life, many fear that all the things that make them feel comfortable and secure will be uprooted. The privilege of being free is the power of choice. Just because someone is sharing their way of life, does not mean you have to partake in it nor troll it. Let it be, if it is not doing harm. Sometimes, being uncomfortable is important. Sometimes, we are too rooted yet detached from things that are actually causing us or others harm. Sometimes, the discomfort are signals in the mind, body, & spirit, saying; “hi, this may be something you need to further tune into”.

Having safe products for my family’s self-care routines is something that is personally so important to my beliefs and flow in life. Having a dependable company has taken so much pressure and work from trying to make, find, and research what / what not to use. As a minimalist, I try to limit the amount of products I use in my personal and household routines. The products I choose need to be long-lasting in safe, affordable, and effective ways.

After taking my time, exploring these products and this opportunity, I decided it was time to become an Advocate. You can shop these clean, toxin-free products through my personal link below.
