ROOT & RISE is something I have often said throughout the Rootin’ content. It can apply to anything of becoming more self-aware and empowered. There can be so many things we struggle with in not only our own journey, but understanding others’. Fear, expectations, and open wounds can often stand in our way of Rootin’ and Rising! The life journey is not a simple duality nor just black and white. There is a lot of gray area and a world full of colors swirling around us. It can be beautiful chaos, but it can also be overwhelming, intimidating, and mysterious. Accountability is the key to ROOT & RISE! When we do not take accountability for the flow of our world within us and all around us, then all we will feel is the chaos. Chaos will continue to swirl. Patterns will continue to repeat. Being accountable is doing the work to Calm the Sea Within day in and day out. It is dedicating your life journey to learning how to be more open, breaking the cycles of negative energy, and surrounding yourself with sources of positive empowerment.

The accountable are the ones willing to do the work to understand how they are a part of the problem and what they can do to be a part of the resolution. They are open to more than just their own view and opinion. They feel a social responsibility to better understanding the flow and diversity of life. We are more than just our own journey; we are connected to all things. We are connected to all in this world that came before us, all of now, and all that will be. When we are complacent with this concept, we are unaware of how we are limiting our connection to the world. Limiting our connection can allow more room for fear and expectations. We often fear the unknown or what we do not understand or lacked exposure to. Also, when we have not experienced other realities, it can be easy to place inaccurate judgement and expectations on such. Our mind only “brushes through” realities we have not experienced, especially if we have not made the effort to connect on a deeper level of what others may be experiencing in this world. Being accountable is a journey and a lifetime of dedication to being open. To be open requires shedding the ego layer of aggression and defensiveness. It is about being soulfully diplomatic and willing to listen. It is about taking the time to truly understand how your voice matters and the importance of thinking before we speak. We must do our best to educate ourselves on things we do not understand. This also means being open to new sources. When we tune into the “same old sources”, we are often tuning into the messages we “want to hear” or are comfortable with. The patterns repeat and little is learned. Being accountable is acknowledging our resistance and limitations. It is taking ownership of what we can personally do to be more open and committed to change and understanding. It is doing the work to heal the paths of the past. It is cultivating new and improved ones. It is to not only honor our past, present, and future, but to try to be more understanding and respectful to the flow of the world that came before us, all around us, and our responsibility to what will be.

Bloodline healing is not only a topic we will discuss often, but it is a movement series for Energy Work. Sometimes, our bodies need to move with the flow of our thoughts to help us feel connected to and surrounded by the energy we are trying to channel. This Roots & Rhythms’ Series is an energy fusion of exercise styles from diverse tribal backgrounds and cultures. Exploring this and tracing the roots of things helps us understand the connections of the past and how they flowed into our present connections. It can awaken us to values and principles of life and nature we should still honor. It can reunite us with the commonality of being human. It can help us heal the damage of the past. Today, I am simply planting this seed of thought. We will begin these exercises in upcoming lessons.

The Human Journey is connected to the roots of conquerors, healers, warriors, travelers, story-tellers, artisans, makers, movers, lovers, fighters. There are always roots of trauma and enlightenment. We are at our best as humans when we connect to share the human experience through a mutual respect for the art of living; food, dance, family, etc. When we are open to sharing these simple values in life, we often discover how we are more alike than we are different. Our ego self of having to be right often stands in the way of our path to equality. Our “survival of the fittest” instincts often still drive us as humans to divide, conquer, and claim “dominance” or power. “Eat or be eaten” by the world all around. However, when we calm the fear, chaos, and primitive instincts swirling around inside us, we can tune into our spirit encouraging us to be open to the art of living. This is when we are able to become movers, makers, healers.

There have been major events and constant human chaos that have ripped through this world to try to “dominate” it, but there have also been those people, those moments that changed the tides to light the darkness and inspire us to rise to be better humans.

The Core Care of the Bloodline Healing series is still a fusion of energy work concepts, but these are linked to the ancient and modern practices of the art of living. It is the method of getting back to the basics of being a good human; common-core values and principles.

Life is not without pain and struggle, but it is how we react to those moments that make the difference. It is also how we choose to break the cycles of that pain and struggle to be different in our own lives. To break these cycles we must choose compassion over fear. Compassion is a potent healing resource within us. Even though it naturally exist within our instincts, it must be nurtured to fully develop. It will require time and effort to discover and develop this quality. The more pain and struggle one experienced, the more time and effort it will require to weed out triggers and programming.

Because of our competitive programming, we often use to look at compassion as a weakness. In reality, it is one of our greatest strengths.

Listening is one of our most important powers and abilities as humans. It is not just about being able to hear, because we all hear in different ranges. Some of us are born without hearing or lose it over the years. Hearing can be an important tool for listening, but it does not always determine how well we listen. Actually, those who have difficulty hearing are often better listeners, because they have to be more observant and perceptive. Interaction also has to be more paced and engaging. Listening is ultimately about the time and effort we are willing to give to better understand others and the world around us. Just a simple seed of thought for today. We will continue this topic with upcoming activities and thoughts to help empower our listening abilities.

Reiki is something we do daily here! I also do a little #dailyroots on it monthly to plant the seeds of thought. The practice of Reiki is open to anyone willing to open their mind, spirits, and hearts to it. Energy naturally flows within us and all around us. The more we learn to Calm our Sea Within, the more we learn to have patience for the energy already flowing all around. We naturally become more in tune with all the vibes of all things. The process is a mutual relationship, because the more we learn to do energy work, then the more we are able to Calm our Sea Within. It is like we talk about in a lot of podcast; the beginning of any journey always require a lot of root work to establish the pathways, but once you get the root work in flow and stay committed to the journey, the more it naturally unfolds and progresses. Learn more about the practice of Reiki in upcoming lessons and here.

When I look at the clock I often happen to look when it is a repeating series of numbers. Numbers, like anything else, are energy and have property traits. (If you are wondering about the pic with my dog’s face, it’s a screenshot of my screensaver on my phone of moments of time in synchronicity.) We will talk about what all this means and how it is a power of consciousness and synchronicity to start noticing or becoming naturally attuned to certain moments. Today, I want you to just start taking a mental note or a journal note on your phone or in a journal when you notice the synchronicity of time. I keep a daily journal in a notebook of my task list, goals, reminders, etc. In those notes, I include highlights of the day of my wellness journey. Example: If I happen to look at the clock at a special time, I take a minute to acknowledge it and write it down on my daily agenda. Think of it like keep minutes in a meeting; jotting down highlights of your day throughout your day. It is a great tool for helping you develop your path. I use to be a paper soul; loved my notebooks, but I have recently switched to keeping a running journal document on my phone where I can bullet point my daily tasks, goals, flow, food, thoughts, and highlights. I will be doing some upcoming lessons on efficient methods and tools for planning and charting your day. Meanwhile, see what you start tuning into and acknowledge it / honor it when you do.

Unconditional loyalty should not be a requirement for unconditional love.

A quick thought from our Root & Flow Relationship Guide:

For those we truly love, we naturally want to be loyal. Loyalty is important, but unconditional loyalty can be a dangerous road and the price of self. Unconditional loyalty would be to stand by someone without boundaries or accountability no matter what. A healthy relationship needs boundaries, accountability, honesty, communication, and ambition for positive changes and growth. Unconditional love is very different. This simply means love is always at the core. It is the compass of a dynamic, relationship, intention, or purpose. We should be true to the things we love, but through mindful freedom.

The flow of water, the sway of flowers in the wind, are movements by the currents and energy forces of life. How we meet and greet these currents and forces can be intuitive movements like a bird understanding how to fly in different conditions. We too must be mindful of all the different conditions of life and how we apply our energy to be able to flow with those different moments. No one moment is the same. We gain experience the more we learn from different conditions, but with each moment being a new moment with new factors to consider it still requires us to tap into a certain amount of intuition. The key concept we often talk about is flow over force. Often, when we try to force or over-control something, it does not work out well. We must have patience and perception to allow things to naturally flow before we understand how we need to apply our flow. Intuition requires the ability to surrender yet be fully present. This may sound like a contradiction, but it simply means to try to eliminate judgement, expectations, and preconceptions before entering a moment. This is a security blanket method for trying to control the moment. You must try to release those instincts and thoughts as much as possible to be fully present to each new moment. Allow your intuition and natural flow to move you into the moment.

Quick little reminders for today:

It should not only be “think before you speak”, but “feel before you speak”. A lot of our choices and reactions can be driven by impulsive behaviors. Mindfulness is about creating time to process feelings and knowledge to improve how we behave. One of the most important things to do for mindfulness is: “think about others’ feelings before you speak”. However, for Empaths like myself, we already get too in our head worrying about others, overthinking what and how to say something, and being overally critical of self. There is such a thing as too much mindfulness. “Even too much of a good thing can be a bad thing”. Empaths often hold themselves back from expressing themselves because they are processing the entire universe in their minds and how all the pieces fit together, where they fit in that, and how to best apply themselves to the moment. Like all things, the concept of balance is important to the connection between the Heart and Throat Chakra. Not processing thoughts and feelings before speaking or engaging life can be very disruptive to the life flow. You may not feel the direct imbalance due to quickly moving on from the moment, but deep down in your wellness systems the consequences are stored and take root over time. This can cause reoccurring or eventual patterns of blocks or damage on your life path. It may be very difficult to see the connection to how these things came to be due to the imbalance of mindfulness. Over-processing does more immediate damage to the individual caught up in their own head. Others may feel like they are avoiding aspects of life or may struggle to understand their choices and way of life, which can be a consequence of this pattern, but ultimately the over-thinker is the one in pain. They feel so much and want what is best for everyone, and in a very complex world, such a thing is impossible, because there is no way to make every single being well and happy. Coming to terms with that is a process for an Empath. Therefore, the key thought is: find balance between expressing self and processing self. Work each day to balance the connection between the heart and throat chakra. Use the charts below for a quick overview of tips and tools to help channel those vibes.

Quite appropriate after yesterday’s thoughts: life can often feel like a steady sea of waves. As we are now in Cancer Season you may feel such vibes even stronger. Cancer is the sign of mood and emotions. They are often in constant flux of all the feels. Their emotions can crash and clash like waves. Sometimes the mood is quite unpredictable from a high of outgoing-good vibes to very confusing, deep introverted silence to what the heck just happened. Sometimes their thoughts and emotions can completely come out of left field or flip as quickly as a switch. Therefore, when interacting with a cancer sign or depending on where Cancer is in your natal chart, it is very important to have a good grasp on understanding emotions. Therefore, for tonight’s activity, you may want to reflect on who in your life may be a Cancer sign and you may want to see if / where Cancer falls in your natal chart. This is a great place to discover it: here

After exploring these thoughts and this info, think about how you can best work on coping with the waves of emotions and others’ emotional waves. We will also be exploring more insights and tips in this week’s upcoming lessons.

Welcome to Cancer Season & Summer

This summer may feel quite odd due to all that is going on in the world. As frustrating or as scary or intense as it may be, sometimes things have to fall apart to shake us and wake us up. Is your third-eye open? The center of intuition, vision, and truth. Is it being blocked and blurred by mixed emotions, stress, or chaos? Things we are fed from the world around us can also block our third-eye, especially if it is toxic or we do not take the time to better understand it or process it. Just because insights come to us from sources we are taught to trust, does not mean it is trustworthy or right. Even if it is, we should create time to process all thoughts, vibes, and insights that come to us. We should also try to look at each thing from different perspectives. Power is in perception. Strengthening our skills of perception opens doors. The more we practice this, the more intuition naturally flows. The more intuition flows, the more we are willing to practice patience to get to the root of things and to do the work to better understand things. An open and balanced third-eye is also important for creativity. Life is often about opportunity. When life gets shaken up, we have to cultivate and create new pathways of living. If we try to relive what has been done over and over again or resist change, then we are too dependent on a past that no longer fits reality. Life is in the now and in the future. If we are not looking towards that by learning from the past and doing the work that is needed to upgrade our lives, then most likely our nervous systems are experiencing a great deal of anxiety and fear. When we resist the natural flow of life, then we disrupt the pathways in our world within and all around. Just like a garden, we have to do the work each season to uproot what needs to be uprooted or weeded out, we have to plant new seeds, and cultivate the conditions for them to grow. Cancer season and the start of summer is an important time to reflect on the vibes of these thoughts. It is an important time to do third-eye energy work as Cancer is ruled by the third-eye Chakra. Use the chart below for a quick look at vibes and tips to help channel the third-eye energy.

Reflect on the thoughts in the previous lesson during your new moon ritual. New moons are about fresh starts, planting the seeds, getting to the roots of things, and releasing what is not working to prepare for moving into the next chapter, the new cycle, and the next phase of the flow of life.

Reiki is a way to connect with energy. We will start applying this to some of our moon energy work. Meanwhile, explore more about Reiki: here

This week try to incorporate some of the movements, ingredients, and vibes from the Cancer Chart above to your life flow.

“Every little thing is going to be okay” does not mean everything is okay or is going to magically fall into place. It is about the hope to keep believing in doing the work to keep creating positive pathways. It is about continuously doing the work to keep gaining perspective. It is about knowing a moment will pass and how you rise from it is what matters.

Let’s talk about eating with our feelings!

Like we often talk about, an important root to mindful living is the Power of Perception. Meditation, visualization, and manifesting energy work are all connected to the root and flow of the power of perception. It is a steady journey of navigating all the roots and rhythms of life to reflect on how to cultivate or organize them into a flow that works best for you. What does perception mean to you? What are some things you do to take a step back to gain perception when something is challenging your thoughts or vibes?
