Unwinding is so important. Our basic night-time routine includes: brushing teeth, washing our faces, skincare, cozy pjs, spraying the bedroom with sleepy oil (typically a lavender blend), preparing the bed, then cuddling with our animals and watching something low-key. Before we fall asleep, we head to the bedroom to then drift into our dreams. However, getting into sleep mode is not always easy, especially if you struggle with pain, anxiety, etc. Like anything else, sleep requires training. There are techniques we use to help shape our sleeping patterns. We will share more on the Root & Flow Blog through our Routines & Rituals feature, but below is a quick look at a few things:

Reiki is also a great practice for unwinding by channeling and calming energy in the mind, body, and soul. Below is a glimpse of a few hand-positions that target areas in need of calming to a resting state before sleeping. It is also important to understand the difference between resting and REM sleep. It is also important to understand the difference between the conscious and sub-conscious mind. Things we may not consciously address may be active in our sub-conscious, which can disrupt our sleeping patterns. Therefore, it is vital to create time and space for the inner-work of bringing these things to the surface, so they can be addressed and released over time through safe practices. Otherwise, they may be restricting or triggering your energy flow in ways you may not even know. Learn more about this in blog posts and learn more about Reiki: here

#morningmeditations normally includes insights and activities, but today is just a little reminder: meditation is a journey! We talk a lot in all of our workshops about the power of releasing expectations and the importance of focusing our intentions on the journey; moment by moment, day by day. When we are too rooted to expectations, we often put a time limit on when and how things should manifest. Meditation can be a practice to help us manifest things in life, but it is more-so about awakening our power to be conscious of how things manifest and how we are responsible for how we react and move forward. Everything is a manifestation of our world within and all around; how we release our breath, how we navigate our thoughts and emotions, how we take a step, how we make a choice, etc. Therefore, keep in mind: meditation is not the process of rubbing a magic lamp or wishing upon a star and poof… good things appear. It is a journey of learning how to manifest peace and perspective.

We will be sharing more about the importance of brands, sustainable methods, and essential nutrition tips on the Root & Flow Blog, but here is a quick look at our mindful meals concept:

Love goes a long way! When things are made through LOVE and MINDFULNESS they can SAVE the day, the bank account, the mind, body,& soul, and the Earth! Like we talk about in everything we do; everything is a relationship! The holistic wellness journey is about awakening and aligning the nature within to the flow of nature all around. It is about reducing fear-based living / programmed habits while believing in abundance through intentional, intuitive, and minimalist methods. Abundance is not about wanting and needing everything; it’s about believing there is enough, you are enough, endless possibilities, and the power and patience to keep manifesting good things in the life journey.

Example1: These pancakes were made from 4 clean, basic, affordable, ingredients yet loaded with an abundance of nutrition to feed my whole family (including the dog).

Example2: This brand of peanut butter cups may be the more expensive choice, but it is about priorities and choices. This is considered an occasional treat. We barely buy any sweets, go out to eat, or spend in excess. We save our resources (choices, actions, $, etc.) for particular items and moments. Buying and eating food in bulk is often the result of habitual programming; shopping bargains, feeding cravings, and addictions (sugar). It is instinctual human nature. However, mindfulness is about awakening the conscious mind to become aware of being controlled by habits, break programming cycles, and create intentional choices from soulful living vs ego or fear-based. It’s okay to shop a good deal or feed a craving, but it is possible to do so while making conscious choices. Quality over quantity! Sometimes, buying less and creating with less can last longer, be of greater quality, and be more sustainable in so many ways!

Care Kits are something my family and I have always done for one another and others to swap or send resources. However, as family members became ill, this is something I lived by even more-so. Whether I put a few things together from the grocery store or mailed a box I put together from Thrive, sending a few things or helping to supply groceries can go a long way!!! Thrive is a service I especially became fond of. Learn more in upcoming blog posts or in the link above. Normally, we discuss specific coffee recipes and crystal rituals, but today, we are going to discuss a principle component of this feature: The Power of Feeling Recharged! In a way, feeling recharged is a mini rebirth, because our mind, body, and soul feel replenished and empowered to move through life. Sometimes, a cup of coffee or meditating with a crystal can make us feel recharged. This energy may soon fade or be something we need to continue the practice of to keep recharging our energy. Even though there are properties within these things that boost or aid our energy in some way, it is ultimately about the power of thought and focused energy. We have the power to rebirth our life flow in any moment through the power of our thoughts and intentions. Just a little something to reflect on today! Please continue this thought into tomorrow’s #morningmeditations. Keep expanding on this thought and see where it takes you!

See above for today’s topic.

Continuing on the theme of April, which seems to be: The Power of Thought & Choices, today, rather than providing detox insights, recipes, or plans, I would like to focus on how to establish the detox mindset. Our detox approach is not about depriving you of resource, it’s about eliminating the excess to focus on intentional eating. Our detox approach is about Abundance. Like we discussed previously, abundance is not about getting everything you want and need. It is about conscious choices over fear-based choices. Quality over quantity! Mindfulness over impulsiveness! Intuition over instinct!

The Root Detox is about gradually eliminating unhealthy habits, restoring natural intuition, and establishing conscious choices. The Root Detox is not a one-time or periodical thing, it is a lifestyle. “It takes time for things to take root”. Sometimes, a cleanse can help us re-calibrate our flow, which is an important step for getting the ball rolling. However, sometimes when we look at a cleanse or a detox as a temporary commitment vs a lifestyle, then we end up on the endless see-saw of life. Therefore, I personally believe in combining the concepts: doing a temporary cleanse from time to time, but establishing The Root Detox mindset as a long-term, lifestyle commitment. This is a constant, gradual journey of detoxing the toxic and living with mindful intentions.

When we get our hands in the dirt of the Earth, we feel the Roots and Rhythms of the flow of all life; we connect the nature within to the nature all around. Today, enjoy a little gardening!

This willow tree is something I drew in 2014 and one of the first concepts I came up with while on my creative, healing journey of formatting Rootin’. Just by looking at a willow tree, you can see its flexibility. It sways with the wind like it is creating a dance. This flexibility allows is to survive some of the harshest conditions. This concept is important for emotional endurance. Like the willow tree, being flexible with life and our emotions is so important. We should allow ourselves to sway and dance through our feelings. It became common practice to encourage “standing still” with emotions. I think this was an over-corrective response to our emotional human instincts; fight or flee. Therefore, coping became shove it down deeper or shut it off, whether through mental training or other source. However, control is often an illusion or too strong of a resistance. If a tree was to stand still in the wind, it would snap. Therefore, it is important to be rooted, but to also be flexible.

There are many other features of symbolism in this concept that I created with this graphic, but #dailyroots is about keeping it simple; just a dose of wellness. We explore more in the blog in scheduled posts!!

Today, is national pajama day! Spend a little extra time in your pjs, cozy up with a book, cuddle with your stuffed animals, sip on some tea, or just lay upside down and zen out!!!

Before the Mosaic Project launches, I would like to share a little more about its roots and purpose. I came up with this concept when I was on my own creative, healing journey. As an Empath, I always felt like life was in pieces and fragments; sometimes a kaleidoscope of colors, images, or clear visions from all over in time. Sometimes, it felt like watching a movie at light-speed; flashes of people’s lives from unknown places and time periods to present, well-known identities, to premonitions of the future. Interacting with every person and every thing was also like this; a light-speed download of their deepest feelings and energy. Life in such full force and deep connection like this can be enlightening, but also soooooooooooo overwhelming. When you have so many of your own vibes yet get an instant download of the whole world’s vibes, it is a lot to process. Empaths are connected to the Roots and Rhythms of the whole universe; the flow of the Earth throughout time and space. As we know, that is a whole lot of light and a whole lot of DARKNESS! Learning to navigate and process the darkness of it all can be an endless rabbit hole and terrifying maze. Therefore, I had to learn how to not try to process it all at once; learn how to take everything piece by piece. As ego-based humans we often set so many expectations yet allow our shadows of fear and doubt to follow us around. I had to release these expectations, face the shadows, and reconnect with the deepest layers of soulful living to process things piece by piece. I had to learn how to focus on the natural journey and create the patience to allow my intuition and timing to unfold, to put pieces together without expectations and be conscious enough to keep re-working them when they did not feel right, and embrace life more from a raw-art approach.

I started looking at everything like a mosaic; my inner-self work, my relationship to everything in life, my mind, my wellness, art, my vision boards and planners, decorating my spaces, etc. A little side note: the little wooden painting was one of the first pieces I did one night when I could not sleep and started reconnecting with my Empath roots. I was coming out of a really dark place and starting to reawaken, which reopened the gateways to the kaleidoscope of the universe (2011). When those gateways re-opened my connection to all the visions, keywords, and concepts I had long been obsessed with (with my intentions of planting the seeds to Rootin’ for your Life) were flowing again in full-force all hours of the night and day. The little painting is just one example of how I receive flashes and images of global feelings and faces or the vibes of human nature.

#coffeeandcrystals is where we discuss and open the doors to topics in the metaphysical world (over a good cup of coffee, tea, or creative, healing drink). The Mosaic Project is something we will feature from time to time. Above was just a little behind the scenes note of my personal journey to creating it, but learn more what it is really about.

In general, the Mosaic Project is to raise awareness on the process of coming together as individuals; how each one of us are own piece of art (in motion; shifting and creating piece by piece) yet we are each part of even bigger mosaics (our relationship with everything); family, community, Earth, and Universe and are all a part of the same Mosaic. However, each one of us have our own pieces to bring to the table. Therefore, the Mosaic Project is about honoring our “art" and combining our gifts to create a better world.

It is also to create a safe space for sharing the darker parts of a creative, healing journey. Mental Health awareness and offering a constructive outlet to address all the diverse roots of this topic is our main intention. We all struggle. We all have deep vibes. We all feel broken at times. Whether folks are working to actively address such, or someone is still unconscious of how these are components of human consciousness, we encourage the ideals of freedom and purpose through the Mosaic Project. Welcome to Taurus Season

Taurus is an Earth sign ruled by the Heart Chakra! This month is full of Heart & Earthy vibes with entering the rebirth season of spring + as we navigate the outbreak of COVID-19, the Earth is experiencing a rebirth of sorts. Birth is not easy. Rebirth is not easy. However, it opens all the doors to the world and the flow of life. It calls us to awaken and listen to our hearts. It shakes and tries to uproot every fiber within us to conjure our strength. Like in the true nature and cycle of life; there is new life and things that bloom while there are things that are released or a shifted into the next phase of life, including death. This is something that often happens root by root (the individual flow of life), but sometimes something happens on such a global scale to force the roots to come together to do some major gardening. The Earth is shaking our roots and calling to our hearts to dig deeper, look closer, re-align to the natural flow of life and time, to stop taking life for-granted, and to create a better world from all the pieces left; we each have something important to bring to the table (like we discuss in the Mosaic Project in a previous post).

The energy of this month and Taurus are great reminders of the importance of our Earthy nature, hearts, determination, and practicality. This is not the only cosmic energy aligning with the vibes of our world and COVID at the moment, but this month also brought us a FULL MOON in Libra. Libra is also ruled by the heart chakra. Full moons are about shining a light on what needs to be seen or brought to the surface. It also empowers us to manifest life. It can be such a full-force of energy that it can feel very wild and chaotic, because it is trying to pull the energy out. Therefore, it is important to understand all that is in flow, to be able to ride the waves rather than fight the currents. We are also about to enter Pluto in retrograde. Whether we feel the energy of this or not, the symbolism of this cosmic flow/shift represents the idea of deep transformation. Like Pluto, sometimes our deepest, inner-self can seem so far away from us and difficult to reach or understand. These vibes are rarely visible to our consciousness; they often live deep within the shadow-self and subconscious. We can reach these vibes when we welcome the process of transformation and do the work to swim the depths and dig to the roots.

The main message from all of this is: The Root and Flow of all things is calling to our hearts right now to shift our energy, get grounded, practice patience and perseverance, welcome transformation through practical steps, and connect with the Earth. Channel this energy through Taurus Season with our little chart below + other resources we will be sharing. You got this! Listen to your heart! Water your Earth with love and kindness!

As you can see in the chart above all the green things are so important to Taurus wellness and the heart chakra. Therefore, try to focus your recipes around green foods (including leafy greens, naturally green food items, and green food in the terms of being grown from the Earth through clean, conscious processes.) Also, with all of your essential routines and rituals try to source green, eco-friendly, and clean, conscious processed items.

Hours of Power are about doses of wellness throughout the day to naturally boost energy; mindful movements, breathing and mental focus exercises, and clean eating and snacking. Wellness is not always about the big accomplishments and appealing practices. It is often about the gritty details, funny moments of being human, and all the little things that add up to the root and flow of the day. Therefore, today’s Hours of Power activity is just a simple thought: your greatest power is embracing being human! Be accountable for your actions and choices! Laugh and shake things off when they don’t go as planned. Embrace the natural flow and state of things. Celebrate life in every moment. When your energy is running low and life is tough; honor that, be patient, and allow yourself to feel and work through the vibes. Power is not about perfection. It is not about who has what, who did the most or who did what, the applause, and the big accomplishments. True power often comes from behind the scenes, below the surface, and beyond all that is seen or known; it comes deep from within.

Photo note: bottom left pic is of Lucille Ball from Here’s Lucy (she was attempting yoga). As many know, Lucy is one of biggest sources of inspiration.

The New Moon is the darker state of the moon, when our vibes can seem distant and in need of time to connect and replenish. However, it is also part of the cycle where we feel like we are at the beginning or preparing for the beginning of a new cycle, new endeavor, and /or entering the next phase of an ongoing journey. Learn more about new moon energy: here

Today, is a lot of Earthy energy with Earth day and the Earth energy of Taurus season and Taurus new moon. Peek back at the Taurus chart for ways to channel these vibes. Also, celebrate the Earth and earth-friendly practices. One way we love to celebrate this Earth is to be in nature. We love to connect through hikes and photography. Life balance and structure is so important to a Taurus. They live fully from the heart and are very dedicated and loyal to the things they love. However, if they experience a lot of heart-break or the heart chakra becomes blocked or damaged in some way, then they may shut down the power of their heart chakra or pull away or act out towards the things that matter to their heart. A Taurus is very practical and determined, so they may eventually find their way through these pathways. However, determination can also turn into a stubborn resistance against change, so they may try to force something to be or dwell on the same issues. The more a Taurus finds a way to create diverse coping tools for the heart to establish wellness and life balance, the more they feel connected to all of their earthy roots and rhythms. They need clean, whole foods from the Earth, good doses of sunlight and time in nature, rain and hydration to calm and regulate their flow, secure and strong relationships to open and nurture their heart chakra, self-love and care routines to establish strong roots and flow of the heart chakra, and constructive ways to release their strong, determined-spirit. They are very practical and do best when they can focus on details in organized patterns. Therefore, they may do best when creating a structure for daily scheduled self-care/expression routines; journaling every night as a routine, a set-time of day for a little art time, etc. This is important to support the functional flow of a Taurus. However, a Taurus should try to challenge themselves from time to time by doing something not according to the plan or schedule to work on their resistance and fear of change. There are times when we need to protect our heart and times when we need to open our arms and let ourselves free to fly and flow.

Taurus loves comfort and pleasure; things good for the heart and soul. Sometimes those cravings, instincts, and drives may lead to over-indulgence or the opposite, deprivation, as a means to try to over-correct. Taurus can even do this with moods. They may pour out so much love in one minute, which creates a warm, open connection, but then show a side that is so abrupt and aggressive. Something within them or around them may have triggered their strong spirit to show their horns or caused them to run off in another direction. (FYI Taurus is represented by the constellation mythology of the Bull). Bulls can be very powerful, resourceful, earthy, and beautiful, but be mindful of how you interact with them and cross their path. They may be willing to connect, but you need to respect their energy, power, and space. Sometimes, all it takes is waving a red flag and you could send them into a bout of rage. It is very important for a Taurus to understand their own power; all the good it can do, but also how they may be easily triggered into frustration and rage. When they do not have constructive outlets for all these vibes it can lead to over-indulgence of a comfort or pleasure or acting out in some way through aggression or passive-aggressive behaviors (smart comments, venting, complaining, bottled up resentment, etc.) All these vibes may also cause competitive or jealous type behaviors as a means to try to hold on to power, control, and the fear or frustration of change. A Taurus requires respect and security, so if these things feel off in their world within or around them, then they may steadily dip into their need to create comfort and security. Bulls can also be loners. Therefore, they may isolate into their own space to get a grip on life or they may have very limited patience for sharing that space, especially if the vibes do not feel comfortable or secure. However, this independent and strong-willed nature can also cause them to set expectations and a practical plan (according to their vibes) in place that establishes their comfort and security, so if something challenges that or uproots it, then they may struggle to accept or understand it. On the opposite flow of that, which is a bit of a paradox in their nature, they are also very loyal, so sometimes the driving forces behind their vibes may be their instinct to receive validation from their relationships, but also the need to please or be loyal to others. Therefore, they may not be resisting change only out of their own vibes, but they may also resist change or struggle with addressing certain issues due to their deep-rooted loyalty to the ones they care about. However, they may not always receive the same loyalty (even if it is in regards to their expectations and perspective), which can trigger their behaviors of coping to try to create comfort and security. Many pathways can create a frustration with loyalty. Sometimes, we hold ourselves to high expectations and stay in certain scenarios or over-do for someone, or sacrifice things in our life out of loyalty to someone else’s need, but sometimes it is because of the energy we gave it (the story we wrote in our own minds) vs what we were asked to do. Sometimes the things that took a lot of our own peace and energy were from our own choices, actions, and perspectives. Sometimes this drain in energy is due to over-sacrificing for others, but sometimes it is simply a lack of loyalty to self. Sometimes, when we are not true to our deepest vibes and needs, we try to find reasons why and we look to all the outside sources that we feel drained our energy vs looking within. Sometimes we are not conscious of how much others are doing/did for us, the validation we are/did receiving/received, the battles others are fighting/fought for us, etc. due to our own blocks. Long story short, a Taurus’ perspectives are rooted to their expectations of self and others. Therefore, if something is not in line with their expectations, then they may over or under perceive the gesture, scenario, dynamic, or journey. Rather than examining it closely through inner-work or communication, they may turn to the instinctual behaviors of coping or aggression. When a Taurus becomes conscious of such things, then the more they are determined to do the inner-work and they learn how to be loyal to themselves and others not through expectations, but through experiencing the moment and being open to experiences of others’ hearts and life journey. Taurus is their best selves when they can connect with self, others, and nature in practical, respectful, and intimate scenarios. When too much is going on too fast, they will see red and anyone and everyone may be a target. A Taurus should work to stay grounded, but not too rooted to their plans and expectations. They should honor and be loyal to the their needs and perspectives, but should also be mindful their perception of loyalty and life flow may be their own. The needs and journeys of others may be from their own definitions and perspectives vs what they person(s) may actually need, want, or experienced. They may also be missing out on all the ways others have been there for them or the things people do to validate their journey due to their instincts to over-protect their heart and security. A Taurus should also be aware of how their love and loyalty for others may cause them to place extremely high expectations on themselves and the toxicity that may occur within them and their dynamics when they feel they do not meet these expectations. Expectation is a perspective. Therefore, the key self-care theme for a Taurus to work on is: The Power of Expectations. It is important to release our expectations to be present in the journey. It is important to value experiences over expectations. When we examine the experiences vs the expectations, we may discover different perspectives. Taurus, some of these things may sound harsh or be hard to face, but remember, every sign and every human is a blueprint of strengths and challenges. We each have things we need to work on and we each have areas where we thrive.

Speaking of comfort and pleasure, food is yes and yes! Taurus may love their comfort, pleasurable foods, but nothing says it can’t be simple and healthy! Example: The comfort and pleasure of an apple-pie, but in a small, clean, hand-made portion. Another Example: Mini, clean, handmade donuts. For these recipes + more examples and recipes follow the Root and Flow Blog!!

Be sure to explore Taurus vibes and crystals in the chart above. Learn more about Taurus in our blueprint workshop and upcoming special energy workshops!

Like I mentioned in a previous post: We are also about to enter Pluto in retrograde.

I may do a podcast on this soon, but for today, I want you to focus on the symbolism of above; how like Pluto, our deepest vibes can be difficult to see and feel very out of reach. It is also important to understand the symbolism of a retrograde (even if scientifically, the energy is not felt in a way we can measure, it may be cosmically felt deep within us through our connection to intuitive energy of the universe). A retrograde appears a planet or cosmic entity is traveling backwards or turning towards its “shadow-side”. Therefore, this cosmic shift, movement, and term is a symbol of shadow-work and deep transformation.

My go to cozy food as always been a warm glass of cider, tea, or coffee and donuts or really good toast! I love a luscious donut and decked out toast (like a big stack of loaded french toast), but eventually the feeling of cozy oozes into being over-full and stressing about the calories I will need to burn and the side-effects of my digestive struggles. For me, the negative reaction to food is nearly immediate, so I have had to learn how to keep it clean, simple, healthy, and easily digestible.

A quick look at a few of my favorite things:

-coconut water for hydration and electrolytes to help with the digestion process

-sunflower seed bread for toast with almond butter and bananas or sometimes coconut yogurt and blueberries or apricot jam, or apple butter (mmm..so many ways to enjoy toast!)

-I have always loved making donuts, but my newest addition is the mini-maker for perfect little portions of goodness! Stay tuned for recipes!!!! I also love to make things in bulk and share it with loved ones! Stay tuned for recipes with few ingredients that make a lot and go a long way (for much cheaper than what you can buy pre-made & much healthier!!!!) It doesn’t break the clock or the bank!!!!

Meanwhile, do your best to find your balance between cozy “just right” and cozy “over-full and ready for hibernation cozy”. Before we can tackle any tasks, we have to establish the seeds of mindset and the intentions for our journey. Release the expectations and focus on the intentions and the journey! Good cozy vibes to all!!!!

No matter how much people hear: “Don’t judge a book by its cover”, “things are more than what they are on the surface, or “things are not always as they seem or appear”, and quotes of that nature, people still often measure life by the way things look; age, race, shape, economic-status, etc. LIFE IS SO MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT!!!!! A few lines I often heard while I was going through so much trauma is: “but you don’t look sick”, “it must be so nice to be so young and healthy” (a. that’s assuming just because I am young - life is great and my health is great b. Just because someone looks healthy and lives with a health conscious, does not mean life is in perfect flow and someone is healthy). Most of the time, for someone to be health conscious, it means they are fighting some of the biggest battles of their life and the frustrating part is: it is often assumed or expected that a person is rewarded by the best, healthiest results when they are health conscious. Wellness often does not work that way. A person that is truly health conscious is often not doing it JUST to look good, they are often trying to heal, learning to navigate their way through the struggles of life, planting deep seeds for a quality life, and so much more. People fighting such challenging mental and physical battles often learn to live without the validation, shake-off those who assume and judge, but let’s be honest: it’s frustrating when people dismiss your journey or jump to assumptions without knowing or understanding anything you have been through and all that you have done to work towards a quality life every moment of every day and the blood, sweat, and tears that often requires.

A smile does not mean everything is fine and someone is not pain.

A good-looking body does not mean someone rolled the lucky dice or is healthy.

Being young does not mean there are no hardships.

Those who smile when life is hard means they are working hard to cope with life and dig deep to share their spirit.

Someone “in shape” has had to work for those muscles, the cardiovascular endurance, the deep breathing through some of life’s hardest moments, etc.

Being young is not a free pass to live wild and free, there is pain, there are hardships, but they may not show it as much, because they are typically still more open to diverse perspectives and often feel pressured to “stay quiet” about their problems due to their age. Youth are often told “you are too young to understand anything about life yet”. When in reality, sometimes they are closer to the truest roots of knowledge and quality living than what they are given credit for. Plus, it is their role to bring new perspectives to the table and to replenish the garden with their refreshing energy. Age does matter, but life experiences often add up to more than what any number can.

These are just a few seeds of thought for healing and understanding energy roots. Learn more about the concepts of Energy Roots on the Root and Flow Blog as posts are available !

Chips, candy bars, and a good movie night with family &/or friends has always been one of our favorite ways to share the good vibes of life. However, in this COVID world, many of us are having to find different ways to experience this. Personally (and for many others that battle lifelong health issues), it is something that had to be addressed earlier on. I use to love hanging out with family and friends and literally “letting it all hang-out”; sometimes maybe a little too much eating or little too much drinking, etc. Most of the time, it was a good time. Even though I was in a lot of pain and knew I would soon pay the price, I was often able to shove it away and just let go. Eventually, it got to a point where I could no longer do this. I was suffering and the pain was unbearable and the amount of work it required to try to not let it get in the way or hide it was impossible, so I had to detox from this lifestyle and I had to redefine my flow. When we had to change our eating and lifestyle habits in order to survive and create a healthier flow, it changed all of our social dynamics; our roles and relationships. Quite frankly, going from often being the hosts of big meals and fun gatherings to clean eaters and more-reserved / mindful life goers made us feel like we had the plague. People tried their best to not treat us differently, but they did. It was like they didn’t know how to act around us any more or maybe felt like they had to act a certain way. On the opposite side, sometimes there was judgement and harsh comments. On the more extreme side, some relationships faded away all together. We expected this. We knew it was not going to be easy. We knew living more on the holistic side of things was going to make many uncomfortable. We knew it was going to be a long, rough transition, but we knew those who truly cared enough would support this and be there for the long-haul of it! We were not super strict about our lifestyle changes or pushy. We did our best to live by it and our belief for things to take root is: “you have to stick with it”, so yeah our gathering dynamics changed, but we are not demanding people, we are still the same ole easy-going people who love to share. Therefore, not much had changed from our perspective, we told folks to not worry about us when planning meals or picking restaurants: we can always bring our own stuff or make something work wherever we are. However, because people have their own expectations and want you to feel included, things do change, because they apply this pressure and new perspective to themselves. Hosting also became a whole new dynamic, because we were no longer the exciting feast and good times, we were “oh, we may have to try new things place”. Personally, it was still exciting to us and over time we were still able to open the doors to “everything can still be fun and good, but it can be done so without going off the deep end into over-indulgence”. However, my point is, when you decide to change your entire life flow; everything gets uprooted. Every relationship of your wellness is redefined; your roles in life, your food identity, social dynamics, self-discipline and perspective, mind, body, and spirit. The roots, the core, and the branches of your entire life flow shift and cycle through the seasons of life differently. It is still you in the Root and Flow of it all, but it’s just a new circle that evolves. Like the rings on a tree, the circle expansion is a sign of growth. There are two ways to experience this: unconsciously or consciously. When we are unconscious of the flow, life just happens! When we are conscious of the flow, we are the co-creators of life in each moment. This does not mean we have the power to control how it all unfolds, but we have the patience to be fully present in each moment to understand how we should shift, when we need to go deeper into the roots, when we need to rise or reach out, etc. We become mindful of how to navigate the currents.

“Some things change, some things stay the same”!

Life can still be about chips, candy bars, and hanging out, but it may just shift into new ways of doing so. Example: the candy bars pictured are made from clean, simple, conscious ingredients. They may be a few bucks more expensive, but living from a mindful place (minimalism vs indulgence) has created space for that. Our grocery list is about the clean, quality, essentials; the bare essentials of what we can survive with while still creating a healthy, abundant life. Because sweets are rarely on that list or are typically made from a few basics at home, then there are more resources available for when we want to treat ourselves.

Core Care is about Conscious, Creative, and Compassionate choices!! In the world of COVID, this is more important than ever!!

Taurus Season reminder and the Root & Flow of it all: “Awaken & Listen to THE heart”. Sometimes, when we close our eyes and find a quiet space, we can hear the beat of our own heart. When we close our eyes for longer and go deeper within, we not only hear our own heart, but we hear the beats of the vibes flowing in all of the roots and rhythms of the Earth. We are connected to the flow of all things. We can hear this beating within us and all around us, when we are calm, patient, and present.
