Note: All lessons may not be complete!!! Pulling away to focus on birthing my baby!!!
Summertime can be so replenishing to the soul, but it is important to stay safe with some Core Care Essentials:
-Hydration
-Nutrition
-Skincare
-Mindfulness of conditions (weather, environment, energy, etc.)
Pizza recipes:
Eggplant:
Prep your eggplant by slicing it and sauteing it on stove-top until soft in garlic and seasonings of choice. We normally make our own pizza sauce, but for a quick meal night, our go to is Classico pizza sauce. After your eggplant is cooked. Add the sauce to your crust of choice then the Eggplant and any other toppings you wish (olives, cheese, etc.) Bake until as crispy as you like.
Taco lovers Pizza:
When you make a lot of taco fillings and have a lot of leftovers, it can make a great pizza! I had leftover black beans, corn, salsa, and jalepenos. Dump it on your crust of choice and bake!
Watermelon Mule Mocktail:
A pitcher of coconut water and watermelon soda water infused with strawberries and basil makes a great mocktail!
Paint activity:
Free Flow: Pick a bunch of colors and let your imagination free. Whether on canvas, wood, or paper add a variety of colors to a large brush and see what comes to life.
ALL THE VIBES! Eclipses often symbolize the movement of change; transformation. It is often about looking at things from a different perspective.
To learn more about Full Moon Vibes, check out Moon Energy: here Full moons are about bringing things to light; life in full bloom with energy.
Also, check out the Capricorn chart below to channel this sign’s vibes. With the moon in Capricorn everyone will be feeling the traits of this sign in different ways (based on where it is in your natal chart and how it flows with your main zodiac sign). Below are a few general concepts important for wellness linked to this sign. These vibes may have you craving to get back to the roots of getting organized; creating grounding routines and rituals to cultivate a healthy flow.
Routines and Rituals help us keep our life in flow. Today, we are talking about an important daily ritual topic; gratitude. It is important to create time to honor the concept of gratitude. This concept is an essential root for healthy and mindful living. Gratitude does not mean everything in life is wonderful. It is about acknowledging the things you are thankful for each day. It is about honoring this concept to create the time and space to cultivate the opportunity for gratitude to grow. Feel free to use the two templates below for creating a gratitude journal. Write or add pics to honor the things you are thankful for.
Soon, we will be starting an Hours of Power group to help motivate one another throughout the day. Meanwhile, this is something you can do on your own by following a few thoughts and tips from this chart. Hours of Power are our daily doses of wellness throughout the day. Every step, bite, and thought matters! Positive life changes start with one bite, one step, one thought, and the commitment to keep making steps, healthy bites, and positive thoughts. Thinking about it or trying to take it all on at once can be overwhelming and lead to a lack of motivation or break in the flow of it all. Breaking it up hour by hour, day by day can help create a pathway of lifelong progress.
With Crohn’s, coffee is something I have always had to be mindful of (even though I love it dearly). Pregnancy made the mindfulness of it even more important. Too much caffeine can be dangerous and the acidic level of coffee can definitely stir up the reflux. Matcha has been one of my favorite things the last several years, but it has been especially helpful in this journey. You can serve it warm, blend it into a smoothie, bake or bathe with it. Hope to share some recipes often with #matchamornings.
Meanwhile, one of my favorites:
-2 kiwis
-few tsps of matcha powder
-1 banana
-coconut dairy free yogurt
We love nerding out over wellness, and we believe something important to wellness is a fitness and appreciation for reading. Therefore, we are starting a little series: #whatsonthebookshelf to promo our favorite books and to shout-out to small businesses that have made goods of some of our favorite characters and stories. We will start personally highlighting specific things soon, but for today, what stands out to you in the picture?
Inspiration can be right in front of us. Yet again, it is the power of perception? Are we too busy to notice? Are we dwelling on all the frustrating things and missing out on all the neat little things around us? Sometimes the smell of soap, the wonder of a flower, or the vibe of handmade earrings can change an entire mood. These little things may not seem like much, but they have the power to inspire. When things are made and appreciated with love, mindfulness, purpose, and intention, that energy speaks volumes. It can lift the life flow to new heights and spirits to new levels of awareness. These little things can make me as happy as a squirrel with a nut. Our Wild Rooted Inspo Blog and Features are to start highlighting more of these thoughts and our efforts to appreciate the root and flow of nature and conscious living. Start exploring: here
Reiki is an energy connection of the world within to the world all around. It is being attuned to the root and flow of all things. Some may have never spotted this little baby turtle that was hidden in the grass by my foot, but something intuitively called me to look down. Sure enough, I spotted this little guy. We moved him from the path of people and returned him to a safer spot in the lake close by where he was, so he could hopefully find his way. Reiki is about creating time to feel things deeper, look at things closer, and channel the intuitive flow of all things. Learn more about Reiki: here
crEATe is one of our #wineandroot features. We believe food can be art and it does not have to be show-stopping. It is simply about what speaks to you and creating the time to get creative.
What’s on my tray?
-My Reiki sketch journal
-My dream journal
-My renewing self-love palo santo smudge
-My calming amethyst mist from Rocks with Sass
-My Dark Crystal Golden Book - I can’t wait to read to our baby Bruce when he arrives (due date closing in)
-Cats above my head
-Calming lavender latte :
1 tbsp food grade lavender, 1/4 cup pomegranate juice, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 2 tbsp acai powder, 1 cup of almond or coconut milk or yogurt
Flow:
-I set the vibe by placing items near me that inspire or comfort me.
-I do my smudge with personal meditation mantras.
-I do vision work with my current energy, dreams, baggage I need to release, and goals I want to manifest. I write and doodle what flows to mind. Sometimes, it pours. Sometimes, it is just a few random words and a simple, out of left-field doodle. Sometimes, it aligns with everything I have been trying to understand and brings clarity. Sometimes, it is just a puzzle piece that I will have to keep working on to see how it fits into the flow of things. The key is not to force or try to control meditation; it is to be fully present it, flowing with it. I enjoy my latte as I write & doodle.
-I spray my mist on my pillow and prepare the bed. (Even if I am not going to bed yet, I get it ready and myself ready and relaxed, so when I am ready, I can easily give in to the moment to lay my head down and drift into sleepy town.) Keeping this habit, requires work, because my nature likes to push myself until I pass out on the couch. However, over the years, I have worked hard to make a nightly routine part of my self-care rituals. It still takes a lot of work to keep it in flow, but it is totally worth it! (These things above are not nightly, they are for dedicated energy work time. The part I try to keep in flow each night is preparing the bed with my pillow mist, hygiene, and getting into comfy pjs. If there is energy I feel I need to release, I make a few bullet point notes on my phone or in a notebook to follow-up on later, if I do not feel like processing them at the moment. )
Quick thought: as you may know by now from our lessons, Cancer season is often a rollercoaster of life experiences and emotions. The Cancer sign is ruled by water and is often linked to traits of deep vibes and emotions. Constant, unpredictable waves. They are very sensitive to the world around them, therefore the currents may have them flowing this way and that based on whatever vibe is circling within them or around them at the moment. Because they hold onto everything so intensely, the emotions can be a swirling sea of happiness, worry, and sorrow. Often, all at once. They can go from laughing to a deep anxious silence to anger to crying within a matter of moments. They feel everything at maximum levels. Therefore, learning patience and balance is critical for a Cancer sign and those interacting with this energy. Learning how to constructively process emotions; allowing one’s self to feel the depths of a particular emotion, but not allowing one’s self to get lost in it is very important. We need to feel all our feels. However, it is important to also release our emotions and use our emotions for constructing plans of manifesting our life goals. The balance is to not become consumed by our emotions or obsessed / too rooted to particular experiences. When our emotions control us too strongly, then constructively releasing them becomes more difficult than ever and will require a great deal of work to restore the balance. Therefore, remember, it is a journey!!!
New moons are about fresh starts, planting the seeds, getting to the roots of things, and releasing what is not working to prepare for moving into the next chapter, the new cycle, and the next phase of the flow of life. Explore more about moon energy: here

Connecting with nature is always a good way to boost energy. We love getting a good walk or hike in. Whether it is near your backyard or miles away, the beauty in nature can be all around when we create time to wonder and look closely. Hours of Power are normally doses of wellness throughout the day, but from time to time, we also like to share ideas for days dedicated to adventure, self-discovery, and empowerment. Nature can be the best medicine in so many ways. Dedicating a day to being with nature can be some of the best therapy.
Another thing that replenishes our soul and keeps our energy powered up is supporting ethical and sustainable brands. In the picture above, the Rice bag is an ethically made repurposed bag that also gives back to those in need. I love this bag and we also love rice so much, that I plan on dedicating a blog post to this soon with more info and maybe even some delicious rice recipes. Meanwhile, explore their mission: here
Prana is my favorite clothing brand and has been a lifesaver during pregnancy. The quality of their clothing feels like a hug. The material is also made for active lifestyles, so as I have grown in size, the materials move into shape to fit those needs. Check them out: here & be sure to check out tips on how we save to help earn $ back; swagbucks offers 4% back per $1, use our swagbucks code to get started: here
Ethically made and sustainable items may seem more expensive. They are, but they are made with more purpose, more love, and long-lasting, quality materials. We have been working on a sustainable shopping guide on how to save $, creating patience for deals, and viewing this consumer approach as an investment. Like everything it is about balance. Our approach was to learn how to shop less and be more mindful of the items we choose. Stay tuned for the guide on the blog! Meanwhile, keep exploring below.
Take a quick look below at a few of our favorite snacks we always keep in our bag. Whether on a hike or on a car ride, we always have snacks with us, because you never know when you need a quick pick-me-up. Having your reliable healthy go-to goods on hand make it easier to provide for your needs and nourishment without having to search for it. Also, when energy gets low and we get hangry, the easier it is to give in to choices that may not be the best.
We always find interesting things when we are in nature. With an open mind and open heart, nature can seem like the most magical place to be. Feel free to use the graphic below to journal your experiences or findings.
